One of the major criticisms with the first two seasons was the fact that the main cast of season two had very little to do with what was going on in Westland. Season three brings back the main cast of the series in Westland, introducing new villains and focuses on the conflict between the Seeker and Darken Rahl. As the series continues, it shows more of a parallel between the Seeker and Darken Rahl's rivalry, and by season four, the series fully turns into a bitter enmity between the two.
The remaining characters, villains and their relationship to the series has been greatly expanded on from the first two seasons. The Third Order's key players are the leader, Maexxnez Zim, the wizard, Cade; the heroine, Mab; the Confessor, Fiona; the Seeker, Kahlan; and the Lord Rahl, Darken Rahl. The Magicians and the D'Haran Empire have also been expanded, with the guilty warship The Trusty, the wizard/mortal companion Nicolae Carpathia, and the Lord Andrew Rahl, Alexander, brother to Darken Rahl being added to the casting; and the vampire lord, Count Tremond, being added to the villains. Season three has cemented the Lord Rahl as a nemesis to the new characters introduced in season three, and has reinforced his evilness. The essential mystery of season three has been solved by the inclusion of the character of the Mother Confessor, a leader who is much tougher than Mab is willing to admit, and has left Maexxnez Zim and the council with no excuse to acknowledge the rebels' army, wheeling all their forces back to Westland to confront the Westland Army.
As the relationship between the two grow, the relationship between the wizard and the Seeker has been turned into a rather nasty one. It is now revealed that the wizard himself was the real betrayer, as he used his own magic to turn on the Seeker, to take her into D'Hara and create a huge army of D'Haran soldiers from the Seeker blood in order to force the Seeker to bend to the will of the Wizard, and thus to Darken Rahl. 7211a4ac4a
